About SafeStep

A more connected approach to alcohol treatment, built for real life.

SafeStep is being developed to bring together personalised check-ins, guided sessions, medication support, recovery tools, meeting recommendations, and practical next steps in one digital programme. It is designed to adapt to each person, using machine learning models and digital CBT to tailor support, resources, and recommendations around their needs, patterns, and triggers.

It is being developed with addiction specialists, NHS partners, and people with lived experience. We also plan to incorporate a companion app with optional visibility for sponsors or other trusted supporters to help with accountability, alongside visibility for care teams or community alcohol support where available.

How it works

How SafeStep works in practice

From first setup to ongoing recovery, SafeStep helps each person build a programme around their goals, triggers, routines, and support needs. Where available, progress can also be visible to care teams or community alcohol support.

01

Start with a recommendation or sign up yourself

SafeStep can be introduced by NHS or community services, or started directly when someone is ready for more structured support.

Evidence-based approach

Why earlier, evidence-based alcohol treatment matters

These official UK and England figures show the scale of alcohol-related harm and the pressure it places on services. They also underline the need for earlier intervention, sustained engagement, and more connected support across treatment and recovery.
